The development of the telephone has been very substantial over the few decades. All through the twentieth century there were developments being made in the telephone but in the 90s the biggest changes started to happen, particularly the mass instigation of the mobile telephone, also known as a cell phone. This new from of phone grew rapidly and it has now reached the point where nearly everyone owns their own mobile telephone!

Telephones have gone from being a very rare piece of equipment that could contact anyone else with a phone and speak to them, to now being one of the most advanced pieces of technology in the world. New and exciting features for phones are being worked on every single day, and the newest phenomenon is the application feature of phones where they can run many advanced programs for thousands of different purposes all on the same device which they used to ring people or send text messages. We are now in the age of the 3-G (third generation of phones) but it will not be too many years now until we reach the fourth generation where every phone will have access to anywhere in the world instantly. It is no wonder that the elderly people struggle to keep up with modern technology when it is developing so quickly.
