Lynn Hershman Leeson's Artificial Intelligence is Better than No Intelligence, will be exhibited with Dialog:City at The Lab at Belmar, after twelve years in development. Hershman Leeson's DiNA, is a visual projection of a artificial intelligence virtual being who is running for president. Utilizing the portrait of famed actress Tilda Swinton, DiNA is charismatic, smart and able to answer any question a visitor might pose to a presidential candidate. Participants can inquire about her stance on the issues, as she is designed with voice recognition software and her "brain" is connected to the internet, enabling her to process her answers immediately and interact in a unique dialogue.

Hershman-Leeson has worked extensively in photography, video, film, installation and pioneered interactive computer based and net-based art. She received her B.S. at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH; and her M.A. at San Francisco State University, San Francisco, CA. She has earned numerous international awards including a tribute and retrospective from the San Francisco International Film Festival (1994), the ZKM/Seimens Media Art Award (1995), a Sundance Institute Screenwriting Fellowship (1998), the prestigious Golden Nica Interactive Arts from from Ars Electronica (1999) and the Award for Positive Innovations in Media from the International Digital Media and Arts Association (2005).
